It was a night out last Sunday with the girls and what a night it was! Thanks to dearie Qunli we managed to catch the awesomely funny musical, Avenue Q! I'll admit I had my doubts initially, but I take that back. To those who have yet to see it, it's worth every single cent. To those who've never heard of it, I say go for it all the same. Yes, it's that good. One up for the vibrancy of arts!

You'll think musicals were those sweet saccharine voices singing out sweet little songs to teach children the virtue of life values. Alright, maybe there's still the sweet saccharine voices but the content couldn't be more different. You're in for a rude (but extremely enjoyable) shock with this production. It starts out hilarious and doesn't slack for one bit throughout. Puppet characters like you and me struggle with the same mundane problems of identity crisis, fulfilling our dreams, all while coping with everyday life.

Internet porn addict Trekkie Monster gets my vote for the funniest act in town, even if his lines do seem rather limited and 'duh', especially in that deep gravelly voice of his. But then again, that's the point of brainless fun. There's bound to be a character each of us will be able to identify with, except perhaps Lucy the Slut. No, I'm serious, there is such a puppet in the cast. The message is clear: No matter how sucky life is at the moment, it's only for now.

All in all, a fun romp delivered in a light way by the stellar cast. To quote the Singapore Repertory Theatre, "Sesame Street" with a very grown up twist." Indeed. (:

Love, I'll be waiting for the pictures we took! Don't forget like you did with our Hong Kong photos okay!
