I met up with dearie Qunli for my first ever squash session yesterday morning! I guess I tried to be funny staying up really late rushing assignments the night before and it turned out I was still in bed at 8 am when I was supposed to already be at the Dover platform. It wouldn't have be anything new if I had been a frequent 'late-person' but seeing as I'm not, tsk. Honestly, unbecoming behaviour.

I ended up being 45 minutes late and had to trawl through the directory boards at Singapore Polytechnic (SP) before I found the Sports Hall. A big thank you goes out to the extremely friendly and helpful security guard at the entrance or knowing me, I'll probably still be in there trying to navigate my way out. Squash courts are notoriously hard to find here (I don't fancy travelling all the way to Kallang either) so imagine my awe at seeing six courts all at once. The best thing is, I heard from dearie it's open for public booking! Man, I love SP, as opposed to some others who only open their courts to alumni, affiliated people and what-nots.

The present squash racquets are quite different from the older ones and so I was thankful there were spare racquets for us, or I'd have to bring out the ancient relics. Not quite the idea of cool. Another big thank you too to Qunli's buddy (I forget the name, slap me) for teaching us the rules and little techniques of the ball game! I hope we weren't too terrible students. We started with the black rubber-like ball which stubbornly refuses to bounce till it's warm, man-handled the racquets till our hands ached, while at the same time managing shuttle run sprints and flying racquets. Read: My body is horridly sore today.

The only thing is, I was enjoying myself so much that I forgot the all important photos. A picture says a thousand words, no? But then again, not a bad day at all. I'm so geared up for next week already. Tennis! (:
